Is there anything more frustrating than selling a product or service and forgetting to grab an email at point of sale? Really? In today’s selling environment you have only begun a relationship with that person.
Your goal is to continue to sell that new customer over and over again. Even if you think you provided a “one time” sale (concession, quick mart, etc.) you didn’t. Without their email address you stand NO CHANCE of EVER communicating again!
Some of you will tell me you are mobile or have associates in the field interfacing with customers. That is not an excuse. Mobile technology allows ANY technician, salesperson or service associate to grab email at the point of sale or service.
How would this work?
Let’s walk through a scenario for instance. Someone enters your thrift store. They browse and make a few purchases. On the counter is a tablet of some sort. It does not have to be expensive. Adequate tablets can be bought for under $100 now.
Your team member simply asks the customer if they would like to receive special unadvertised offers or discount coupons in the future. If so, simply enter their name and email address on the tablet. Within seconds the information is recorded and an email is sent to their address.
Another scenario has a team member out fixing a plumbing leak. After the job is done the technician simply ask if the customer if they would like to receive discounts and updates from you. The same process happens as above, even in the field.
Now, you are collecting valuable information into your autoresponder system. The system I use can segment each user into a sub list for future targeted marketing. This is powerful. As a result, the customer feels like your company is talking to them directly in the emails.
BAM, customer for life. In the future, I will go over the setup and workings of the autoresponder systems. If you want to get started now, contact me here and we can discuss some options.
