Why You Should Never Boost A Post On Facebook

July 1, 2019

When you start delivering content to your Facebook page the selling begins. They will consistently show you ads offering to additional traffic for sale. This is why I am writing this post to help you out. NEVER boost a post (as they detail it) on Facebook.

Now, I don’t want to confuse you. Advertising on Facebook is extremely profitable if you do it right. Using an existing post in your ad works wonders if you know how to do it right.

Notice in the picture at the top of this post. This is an example of the offer Facebook gave us to “boost” our post. The cost was equal to $0.29/view. That’s right. For every 100 people they showed your post to it cost $29. That is crazy.

The larger problem than cost is the fact that the people they show it to are rarely your target audience. They will probably never be an ideal person for your business. Why? Targeting. Boosting posts does not have the advanced targeting available to show your ad to your best prospect.

What happens when you advertise correctly in Facebook?

When we advertise correctly (after many years of testing and tweaking) we routinely get “views” to our ideal prospects for $0.009. Yes, that is not a typo. For less than a penny a piece, a targeted prospect is shown our ad.

1,000 people for $9 is a steal. The people who see your ad are also way more targeted and laser focused on your business than the suggested boost Facebook offers. Therefore, again, NEVER BOOST A POST!
